A garage system combines a large hydraulically actuated door, transom hatch or hull shell door, with the machinery that moves the tender: sliding or tilting cradles, roller and skid launch systems, winch-assisted recovery, and in larger yachts floodable docks. Door actuators work against heavy structures with locking cylinders and gas-spring assistance; sealing gaskets keep the opening watertight; cradles and rollers guide multi-ton tenders in and out through a precise, repeatable path. Why Maintenance Matters
A garage door is an opening in the watertight envelope, so its gaskets, locking pins and hinges are as much a seaworthiness item as a convenience. Gaskets take a compression set and begin to weep, hinge and pivot bearings wear until doors misalign and chafe their seals, cradle rollers flat-spot, winch cables fray, and hydraulic locks drift. Scheduled gasket inspection, alignment checks, lubrication, cable replacement and function testing under load protect both the equipment and the hull it penetrates.
