What It Is

Shore power connects a yacht to the world's marinas, and doing it well takes serious engineering. Glendinning Cablemaster systems deploy and retract hundreds of pounds of shore cable at the flip of a switch. Frequency and voltage converters let a vessel plug into 50 Hz or 60 Hz dockside supplies anywhere on earth and feed its systems clean, stable power regardless of what the marina delivers. And isolation transformers separate the yacht electrically from the dock — galvanically decoupling the hull from every other boat on the pier, blocking the stray currents that eat shafts and thru-hulls, and eliminating a serious shock hazard in the water around the boat.

Servicing across this OEM range means the failed inlet, tired transformer or aging breaker is replaced with the correct component, rated and documented — not the nearest equivalent.

Why Maintenance Matters

This equipment handles the highest continuous power levels aboard, so small defects matter. Cable insulation cracks with age, flexing and UV; connector pins overheat, pit and carbonize — the classic origin of dockside electrical fires; converter cooling paths clog; transformer connections loosen with thermal cycling. And because the yacht sits connected around the clock, a defect gets thousands of hours a year to develop. Annual inspection of cables, inlets and cordsets, thermal-imaging checks under real load, converter service and transformer testing keep dockside power safe — and protect the hull itself from electrolytic corrosion that can quietly cost more than a decade of maintenance.
